Underground, Rustic, Authentic Italian
My friend Kim saw my Cincinnati geotag on snapchat and suggested that we visit one of her favorite spots out here. It was called Sotto. I quickly remembered why Kim is such a great friend. Adrienne & I have been talking about doing Italian since it had been a while since we had some solid Italian cuisine. Last spot was Buca in Toronto with our friends Noah & Keri who treated us. Man. that was fantastic, (I still owe them for that one) We managed to get a reservation at 7pm on Monday at a communal table. The place was packed...on a Monday. Always a good sign, right? We headed downstairs into the intimately lit underground italian cave where we started off with a bruschetta. Silky soft goat cheese over two pieces of lightly toasted bread topped with hazelnuts & a little bit of honey. Very decedent. We went on to the main course which was a Tagliatelle Tartufo. The black truffle was strong, just the way I like it. Delicious. I would have inhaled it but I was busy pairing it with a 2011 Monteti "Caburnio" Super Tuscan. Super full bodied. At this point, I'm on the home stretch. We wrap things up with some Ricotta Doughnuts accompanied by milk chocolate, salted caramel & pistachio puree. It really hit the spot. Another successful cheat day and totally worth every penny. Left that place very satisfied and I will most definitely be back!
