Scandinavia + Japan. Clean Coffee Vibes.
In a quiet corner, just off a main drag, I was lucky enough to find this little gem. The simplistic neon logo in the window caught my eye and I peeked inside to find a clean and modern space with beautiful gear, lush green plants and craft brews. Our barista happened to be the owner (love when that happens). His name was Jeff. Happy, bearded and hip as ever. He answered all of my curious questions. He explained how “TOKI” was the name he landed on after considering quite a few ideas. TOKI was a Japanese word meaning: Time or Occasion. Great name, right? The interior captured the essence of Scandinavia with a tight & clean Japanese vibe. Jeff carried some really unique stuff in the shop. Bonanza Coffee roasted in Berlin. Granola for gangsters & beers by Crate Brewery out of the UK. We tried the Pale Ale and it was crisp and refreshing. Overall, such a killer find. We were so glad to pit stop here. Absolutely at the top of the list when it comes to specialty coffee shops in Amsterdam, well…a coffee shop that actually does real coffee at least.
