Small Shop in The Smallest State.
Did some research and wanted to find a good shop in Providence. I came up on a story by Sprudge detailing the buildout of this place and I was intrigued. Being about 10 minutes from our hotel, it was a no brainer. We rolled up to the place and it was packed (Near Brown University & it was Memorial Day) Cool little place. It used to be a house and is almost a 200 year old place, which is ancient in the US. They were serving Stumptown on a Marzocco GB5. Our Barista was here via Fremont in Seattle! Pretty cool seeing as we are almost as far away from Seattle as you can get in the states. She also recommended I check out Bolt Coffee Co. at the Dean Hotel. Going to try to stop in before we leave here. They serve Kuma there.
I ordered a cortado, which came in a the smallest Ball mason jar I've ever seen and 8 ounces of Single Origin Ethiopia Duromina. The cortado was your basic HairBender by Stumptown, always pretty good and the brewed stuff was great. I noticed no pour over systems here which is rare to see at shops like this. I have to mention 2 things. #1...The guy who greeted us and took our order...I didnt get his name but he had some crazy energy. It was really great. Threw some extra $ in the jar for his enthusiasm. He was likely trippin on some cold brew. #2...They had the craziest playlist here. Switching from some auto tuned, barely understandable gangster rap to Sunday Morning Gospel tunes. I loved it. If you ever find yourself out here, hop on a bike and get out here to THE SHOP. Cheers!
