Small. Simple. Refined.
Looking through my options of shops in P-burgh that I haven't visited, I decided on Constellation Coffee. I saw that they were serving up Ceremony Coffee, checked them out on WHA app and I had seen enough. A small but simple joint in Lawrenceville (The Williamsburg of Pittsburgh). I got in and immediately loved how minimal it was. It didn't feel empty, it just felt clean. Lots of natural light coming through and baristas were friendly. A nice mixed crowd when I visited. Your typical hipster vibe. Tatted up biker crew/hardcore band members, engineering students getting their work done to designers in the back room working on various projects. It was great. Who doesn't love a diverse crowd? Mostly classic rock on the speakers but just enough noise. I tried a Cortado with Destroyer Espresso by Ceremony & a Chemex of Ceremony's Spring Blend 2016. Both were solid. One cool thing I noticed here was that they had a small magnetic board where you could leave a sticky good for some coffee for a friend or a stranger. A cool way to pay it forward, I suppose. I would come back here in a heartbeat, very cool place.
P.S. Their Oatmeal Whoopie Pie thing will make your heart stop. #worthit
